Pizza shop closed by health authorities last month

Pizza All in One of Triq l-Isqof, Msida was closed down by the Health Authorities last month, the Environmental Health Directorate said in its monthly report. The actual reason behind the closure was not given but the directorate listed the closure under an 'emergency prohibition order'. The directorate said that 11 contraventions were issued or processed by the Health Inspectorate, seven of which were related to food safety. The other four were environmental health related. The directorate said that the Health Inspectorate destroyed 1796.47kgs of solid food and 984lts of liquids. A total 1,122 pieces of plastic kitchenware were also destroyed The directorate received 713 complaints of which 119 were related to food. The most common type of food related complaints were onimproper labelling, hygiene at food premises, risk of contamination and bad storage of food. Another 630 complaints were environmental health related. The most common complaints were: pest infestations, infiltrations, accumulation of refuse, discharge of foul water and foul smells.
