106kg of fresh poultry sealed

The authorities have sealed over 106kg of fresh poultry products, including 8kg of whole chicken, due to lack of traceability. The action was taken jointly by the Environmental Health Directorate and the Veterinary and Phytosanitary Regulatory Department. The products were being marketed at being of Maltese origin when they had originated in Italy. The products were sealed in two different outlets and legal action will be initiated. "Food business operators are being reminded of their duties in particular to ensure traceability of the food supply and that truthful information is displayed to consumers," the Department of Information said. It did not say if any products had been sold.
