Malta wanted to attract the best talents from around the world to be at the forefront of the developing global economy, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said today during a conference on residency and citizenship in Miami.
Speaking on Malta’s citizenship programme, he said this was innovative and aimed at high class people who would add to the country’s talents.
He said that now that the law had been approved by Parliament, another possibility for political consensus was being given before the publication of regulations.
However, he did not say how the talks that were underway between the government and the opposition were going. The talks are an attempt at finding consensus.
Dr Muscat emphasised that through the Fund for National Development, the country would be investing in crucial sectors to improve competitiveness and the quality of life of Maltese and Gozitan families.
He explained that his vision for Malta was for the country to be a secure centre of investment.
This was why Malta was to continue to be innovative with policies including cuts in income tax, free child care and student stipends.
