The joint commission between Malta and Libya started meeting this afternoon to discuss an array of subjects including cooperation on health, education and oil exploration.
The talks are scheduled to continue until tomorrow.
They were preceded with a meeting between Foreign Affairs Minister George Vella and his counterpart, Mohamed Emhemmed Abdul Aziz.
The Libyan minister described relations with Malta as “very good and friendly” and said that the Libyan government looked forward to extend its cooperation with the island.
He said that, to be fruitful, the discussions had to be selective and concentrate on a few subjects so that the two sides could agree on short and long term plans.
Tourism Minister Karmenu Vella also attended the talks.
