Three years down the line, the Government is still waiting for the results of the Air Malta restructuring process, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said this afternoon.
Speaking during a meeting with the board of the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association at Castille, Dr Muscat said people were paid €500,000 a year to restructure the airline and they should deliver.
“We rest our case. We are waiting for their results,” Dr Muscat said.
The Prime Minister also expressed "extreme dissatisfaction" with the poor level of cleanliness in the country.
He said that although it was too late to do something about the problem this year, drastic changes would be taken next year.
Councils, he said, lacked the budget necessary to carry out the work and there was no coordination or ownership of the system.
“The system is a let-down not the people.”
Emergency measures were taken this year to try to rectify the situation but the system needed to be restructured.
On Enemalta, he said that the corporation was not yet out of the woods and more young people should be encouraged to take up careers in energy.
He also said that plans for the reduction of electricity bills were on track.
