Half of the area in the three bays at Ghadira has been freed of rental sun shades and deck chairs in terms of a new agreement reached between the Malta Tourism Authority and the lido operators.
MTA chairman Gavin Gulia said the operators had agreed to a reduction of the space taken up by their shades and chairs and it was now easier for people who did not wish to hire such facilities to find space.
"We are giving the bays back to the people, Maltese and tourists," he said at a press conference yesterday, adding that the arrangement has been in place for three weeks and it was being closely monitored.
The same model will be adopted to other bays.
