Hunters will no longer be paid for “consultancy” as they were under the previous administration but will still be given financial support, according to the Government.
Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Rights Roderick Galdes has decided to “revise” the Government’s agreement with FKNK, the hunters’ federation, after it emerged last week that it had been paid €17,500 last year for consultancy work.
“The previous administration’s agreement with the FKNK needs to be revised because the Government does not require consultancy services from the FKNK or any other NGO,” a spokeswoman for Mr Galdes told Times of Malta.
However, the Government will continue to support FKNK and other hunting associations enrolled with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations to help them carry out research and conservation projects as well as to disseminate information among its members and network with other organisations abroad.
