Flamingo's whereabouts unknown - shots heard during the night

A flamingo which landed at Salina yesterday morning was seen flying out in the late evening and its whereabouts are unknown, a BirdLife spokesman said this morning. The bird was seen flying off at about 8.45 pm Officials searched for it at Ghadira - which has a similar habitat, and also at Salina but could not see it. Meanwhile, the police are investigating reports which claimed shots had been fired in the area at about 11 pm last night amid claims that the bird had been shot. The police conducted a number of searches in properties overnight, informed sources said.
