The police have issued charges against Polidano Brothers over illegal development at their Ħal Farruġ headquarters. The action was taken following recommendations by Mepa, the police said.
The Authority asked the police to press charges six months ago after The Times first flagged illegal development at the back of the Polidano Brothers Ħal Farruġ complex. A massive tract of land was turned into a huge scrapyard and outdoor depot for the group’s heavy machinery.
The developers also started building what looks like a warehouse.
Mepa sealed the place. However the developers had persuaded Mepa to remove the seals so that they could get to their equipment and, and the illegal development resumes just before election day.
On Monday, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat, who is responsible for Mep, said the government would not tolerate illegal development.
