The feast of St Paul's Shipwreck is being celebrated in Valletta today, having been moved forward because February 10 clashes with Carnival.
Feast enthusiasts breathed a sigh of relief this morning as fine weather emerged after several days of rain - with more rain forecast in the coming days.
Archbishop Paul Cremona is leading Pontifical Mass this morning - with President George Abela and the political leaders leading the congregation.
The feast will also be celebrated with the traditional mid-day band march and the procession in the evening.
The political parties will not be holding mass meetings today but Joseph Muscat will address a rally while Dr Gonzi will take part in interviews on radio and television.
