Updated: Man, 74, critical after being hit by bus

A 74-year-old man from Ta’ Xbiex is in a critical condition after he was hit by a bus in Triq Mikiel Anton Vassalli, Msida. The police said the accident happened at around 12.30pm. The victim was hit by the bus, driven by a 52-year-old man from Zabbar, as he was crossing the road. An inquiry is being held. Arriva said in a statement that following the incident, its personnel went on site and accompanied the injured man to hospital. The bus driver, who was in a severe state of shock, was also taken to hospital. Arriva said it has contacted  the injured man's family and its personnel were still in hospital with the man offering support. It said that the dynamics of the accident were still unclear.
