Playmobil to invest €15m in Malta

German toy-maker Playmobil is to invest €15m in Malta this year, Matthias Fauser, CEO of the Malta plant, said this morning. He made the announcement as he showed the prime minister around the large factory in Hal Far. The investment will be made in new machinery and an upgrading of facilities. The company will also be raising its workforce. It currently employs just over 1,000 workers, 180 more than in 2008. Mr Fauser said that Playmobil has just concluded one of its most successful years in Malta. Dr Gonzi described the company’s presence in Malta as a success story and said that Malta Enterprise will continue to support manufacturing industry with tailor-made incentives so that the country could continue to create jobs and wealth.
