Updated: 80-year-old man hit by car

An 80-year-old-man from Floriana was grievously injured when he was hit by a car in St Anne Street, Floriana, this morning. The accident happened at about 8.40 a.m. a few metres from the traffic lights. People on the scene said the man was seen rolling on the bonnet of the car - a Rover 620 - and hitting the windscreen, badly damaging it. The car was being driven by a 21-year-old man from Zurrieq. The elderly man was rushed to hospital in an ambulance.
