Update 3: Murder investigation as man is found dead at Qalet Marku

A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found dead at Qalet Marku, Bahar ic-Caghaq, with a shot in the head. Informed sources said that the man - 41 of Balzan - was found in a pool of blood, indicating that he was shot on site. However investigators fear he was also beaten up somewhere else before being taken there. He had severe injuries to his head, face and other parts of his body. The partly-naked corpse was found just before 4 a.m. by a hunter, not far from the site where lawyer Margaret Mifsud was found dead in her car some months ago. It is understood that the dead man was known to the police from a previous murder investigation. Senior police officers from the Homicide Squad were on the scene.  An inquiry is being held by Magistrate Miriam Hayman. See also here.
