Skolasajf, which this year is also incorporating Klabb 3-16, is expected to be fully operational by Monday following positive developments last night, Education Minister Evarist Bartolo said this morning.
The initiative was due to start yesterday but was postponed by a week because not enough teachers were available for the record 10,800 pupils who had signed up.
Asked what went wrong, the minister said the Foundation for Educational Services had been telling him that everything was in order only to tell him that there was a major problem at the last minute.
“We will eventually be carrying out inquiry to see what went wrong,” he said.
The minister was speaking following the launch of a teacher training programme for the introduction of tablet technology in classroom.
A total of 39 teachers from state, church and private schools are being trained ahead of the pilot tablet project due to begin in September next year. 400 state school students will be taking part in the project.
