Skola Sajf and Klabb 3-16 have been postponed by a week due to possible strike action over a shortfall in staff numbers.
In a statement this evening, the Education Ministry said that a situation could have developed tomorrow morning whereby parents would send children in centres and staff would be on strike.
The ministry said the well-being of children was of paramount importance and it was unacceptable to have children not attended to. Not to postpone the initiatives would have been irresponsible, it said. More than 10,000 children are taking part in this year.
The ministry apologised for the inconvenience caused and said it accepted the Malta Union of Teacher's request for an investigation into the poor administration of the initiative.
