No negative repercussions from Isle of MTV line-up delay - MTA

The delay in announcing this year’s Isle of MTV line-up would not have any negative repercussions on the attendance of tourists because they would have pencilled in the concert anyway since it is now an established, annual event, Malta Tourism Authority CEO Josef Formosa Gauci said today. Replying to questions before tomorrow’s ninth edition of the concert, Mr Formosa Gauci said that had the event been in its first or second year, it would have been a different story. The line-up and contracting of the artists, he continued, was in the hands of MTV. Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis said that the concert helped project a different Malta from the usual “sun and sea” image. Following the concert, scores of television stations broadcast the event, he said. Tomorrow’s concert will kick off at 6.30pm with local acts which include the band Funk Initiative and DJ duo Tenishia. The international superstars are Kiesza, Nicole Sherzinger, who arrived in Malta yesterday, Dizzee Rascal, Enrique Iglesias and DJ Hardwell. Buses will operate until 1.30am.
