Two men who allegedly stole jewellery from a Mellieħa shop were caught on closed circuit television and their photo is now being circulated on Facebook in the hope they can be caught.
The two young men, described as "professional" in the way they are said to have carried out the theft, first went to the Naxxar outlet of Vascas Jewellers on Saturday morning but did not take anything from there, sources said.
The duo then headed to the Mellieħa outlet and, while one of the men distracted the shop assistant, the other stealthily stole the jewellery, the sources said.
On looking at the CCTV footage, Vascas staff noticed that the men had just been in Naxxar where the images of them caught on camera were clearer. The clear images were then released on Facebook together with a message asking anyone who recognised the men to call the police.
This was the latest in a series of theft and break- ins that were placed on social media outlets by victims in an attempt to catch the thieves.
Earlier this month security camera footage was uploaded on Youtube showing a thief make his way through the premises of Summit Importers and Distributors in Tal- Balal, limits of San Ġwann.
