Valletta football supporters are this evening holding a carnival funeral to taunt their rivals in the wake of the city's football league and FA Trophy triumphs.
The “funeral”, organised whenever Valletta wins the football league, is now in its 10th edition, the first having been organised in 1990.
It started off as a solemn affair with a band playing funeral marches and Valletta supporters dressed up as priests and women in veils. Others carried coffins representing the rival teams.
The funeral will weave its way along the main roads and will gradually become a more celebratory affair.
At the finale in Republic Street, the coffins will be broken to pieces amidst chants that Valletta has the best football team.
