iPhone thieves to be deported

A Macedonian couple who stole an iPhone from a shop were yesterday given suspended jail terms and are expected to be deported today. Miroslav Karafiloski, 29, and Kristina Kusleska, 25, who both lived in Sliema, admitted, through an interpreter, to taking the phone last Friday from the Wella shop in Gżira. Police Inspector Jason Sultana said the couple were caught on CCTV. Magistrate Neville Camilleri handed down a one-year jail term suspended for two years after noting their clean police records and the fact that they cooperated. They will be deported after it was noticed that they had expired visas.
