Malta celebrated Remembrance Day today with a ceremony at the War Monument in Floriana and Mass at St John's Co Cathedral. In his homily, Archbishop Paul Cremona said that everyone can contribute to peace and not just people in power. He said today was a time to remember those who died and gave their all during the two world wars. God did not make mankind for wars and wars could only be justified to protect justice and humanity. Christ also died for his people and will come back on earth for salvation. This gives hope to those who lost loved ones who are alive in Christ's love. Poppy wreaths to remember the war victims were placed at the foot of the monument. Ex-servicemen from the Royal British Legion and other organisations took part. The ceremony was also marked with a flypast by the AFM's King Air.
