Bus driver files false police report 'to get fired'

An Arriva bus driver claimed he was the victim of a hold-up so that he would get fired, the court heard this morning. Espedito Said, 38, of Nadur admitted to filing a false police report about a hold-up which did not take place. He said he filed the report, in which he claimed that €200 were stolen, because he was so fed up with his job that he wanted to get fired. He was given a two-year conditional discharge.
