Police still searching for mother who abandoned baby

The police are still searching for an Ethiopian woman who abandoned her infant son at the door of the law courts yesterday. The woman left her son in his pushchair after her husband, Ibrahim Mohammed Abdallah, was condemned to a six-month jail term for falsifying three passports in an attempt to leave Malta with his family. They had been living in Birkirkara. The woman had reportedly pleaded with police to stay with her husband in jail. The eight-month old boy is being cared for by nuns until his mother is found.
