Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has had a meeting with Libyan Prime Minister Ali Zeidan on the fringes of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
They discussed the way forward following the memorandum of understanding they signed a few weeks ago for Malta to buy oil and gas from Libya at preferential rates.
They also discussed the lifting of the freeze on Libyan assets, which dates back to the uprising which removed the Gaddafi regime.
The Libyan prime minister reiterated Libya's commitment to help Malta in the energy sector. Dr Muscat said the agreement with Libya meant peace of mind for consumers and a breather for Enemalta Corporation.
Dr Muscat also had talks with the Algerian and Egyptian Foreign Ministers and had a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Dr Muscat, together with Mrs Muscat, met US President Barack Obama and Mrs Obama at a social occasion.
He also met representatives of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
