A woman who passed away in September 2011 was this morning called to give evidence in the case against her husband, for the second time. The request to give evidence was made by the Office of the Attorney General. The husband, Jean Guy Legenre, 68, of Quebec, Canada, had originally been taken to court and accused of reckless driving and seriously injuring his wife, Renee Pelland when their BMW crashed into a wall on the road below the Mdina bastions on July 16, 2011. Two other cars were involved in the incident. The charge was subsequently upgraded to involuntary homicide when the woman, 63, passed away. This was the second time that the woman was called to give evidence. Defence counsel Stefano Filletti protested to the court, saying these oversights were  causing his client anxiety and distress. Mr Legenre is denying the charges.
