Army Commander has not resigned

Army Commander Martin Xuereb has insisted that he has not tendered his resignation or been asked to resign in the wake of persistent reports that he is about to step down. However, the Brigadier would not be drawn on whether he was considering the possibility, only saying when contacted that he had not tendered his resignation. The comment follows a report on TVM in which anonymous sources were reported as saying bomb disposal expert Jeffrey Curmi, who was appointed to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel on Friday, is to become the next Brigadier of the Armed Forces of Malta in the coming days.
