Man arrested after discovery of 80 stuffed protected birds in Gozo

A man has been arrested and is being questioned by the police after a considerable number of stuffed protected birds were found in his residence in Xaghra, Gozo, yesterday. The police raided the house following a tip-off and found 80 undeclared stuffed protected birds. A number of birds were also found in a freezer. They included flamingos, ospreys, kites and storks, informed sources said. Mepa Environment Section officials are compiling a list of the birds.
