An elderly man found sprawled on the floor of his house was hospitalised after prompt action by two police officers from the Qormi District Police, who scaled a storey-and-a-half-high wall to enter the residence. The police said in a statement they were informed of the case at around 8.30pm yesterday by the man’s nephew, a 53-year-old from Qormi, who had not seen his uncle, a 78-year-old, for the past two days. The sergeant and constable immediately rushed to the elderly man’s residence in Triq San Ġorġ, Qormi, where they found him lying on the floor when they looked through his letterbox. They called for an ambulance before climbing the wall into a garden at the back of the house, assisted by the nephew, who provided them with two ladders. The policemen broke through a window to enter the residence and let a medical team, who had arrived on site, in through the front door. The police were subsequently informed that the elderly man did not sustain any injuries and was in a stable condition. Preliminary investigations also ruled-out foul play.
