15 held over drugs, one jailed for three years

Fifteen persons were arrested for drug possession or drug trafficking yesterday, of whom one was arraigned today and jailed for three years after being found in possession of 57 ecstasy pills. The police said in a statement late this evening that the arrests were made yesterday during a party at Corradino sports pavilion. Fourteen of those held are men, of whom one was Italian and the other from Ivory Coast. They are between 18 and 45 years old. The only woman arrested is 18 years old. Three are being investigated for trafficking Ecstasy and cocaine. Another was found in possession of 57 Ecstasy pills. He was arraigned in court today, filed a guilty plea and was jailed for three years. He was also fined €1,000. The men from Ivory Coast and Italy admitted simple possession and were conditionally discharged for a year. Other arraignments are expected in the coming days.
