Woman claims employer paid her less than minimum wage

  An Italian woman who claims she was paid less than minimum wage as a waitress in a cafe in Msida has spoken out against precarious employment practices in the hospitality industry. Marinela Micallef, née Mazza, claimed she worked five days per week at the cafe on shifts that lasted a minimum of eight hours. She showed this newspaper a payslip from last November where her basic wage was listed at €2.33 per hour.
