UBS buses this morning joined Arriva’s in service as the latter’s 68 bendy buses were yesterday removed from service pending investigations following a number of fires.
The situation in the north seemed to be normal with no queues being reported.
However, some 'confusion' is being reported in the south as the smaller buses are filling up much quicker. The situation in Fgura and Paola at around 8.30am was normal.
A hitch that has been reported is that, like in the early days, some drivers got lost because they were not familiar with the routes. A commuter however said this was a normal situation with the regular Arriva bus drivers.
Transport Malta told Arriva to suspend the use of the bendy buses after a third bus caught fire yesterday. The company, which is covering the costs involved in the use of UBS buses, is not ruling out arson.
UBS vehicles were also used in the weeks after the Arriva service was introduced two years ago, because of a shortage of buses.
