Cliff jumping injuries stretch Gozo hospital resources - more video of daredevil jumps

Gozo General Hospital has dealt with 20 cases of severe spinal injuries as a result of daredevil cliff jumping in the past month, Times of Malta has learnt. Among the recent victims were two French tourists who were rescued by the Civil Protection Department and admitted earlier this week. They suffered fractures to the lower spine. A young Maltese daredevil was rushed to Gozo hospital yesterday, suffering from a severe spinal injury after he jumped from a plateau near the Blue Lagoon, in Comino. “This week alone, we’ve had seven cases of cliff jumping-related injuries, most of which affected the spinal column. It’s a miracle none of these people were paralysed or worse,” the sources said. Videos below, uploaded to youtube this week, show people jumping from the Azure Windown in Dwejra and Gozo's other 'window' at the mouth of Wied Mielah. People were not injured in the footage shown.
