Malta to start accepting foreign vaccine certificates

The Maltese authorities have concluded talks with a number of non-EU countries and will start recognising their vaccine certificates from Thursday.  The countries are: Belarus, Belize, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bhutan, Fiji, Jamaica, Georgia, Faroe Islands, Kosovo, Kazakhstan, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Moldova, Vietnam, Egypt, Iran, Libya, Panama, Qatar, Cuba, Russia, Serbia, Taiwan, Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia.  In a statement on Tuesday, the Health Ministry said those in possession of a vaccination certificate that is "recognised and approved" by the Superintendent of Public Health may also travel to and from Malta. The authorities said they will update the list from time to time. Before the update, only the Maltese certificate was accepted, though this is set to change on July 1 when the EU-wide rules on certificates come into force.  The decision to include Serbia and North Macedonia will be welcomed by thousands living and working in Malta who have been petitioning the authorities to let them visit home.  Serbian and Macedonian nationals had argued it was  “nonsense” to keep the two countries off the safe travel lists “when the number of COVID-19...
