The victim of a stabbing incident last month recounted to a court today how he had felt a knife handle when he touched his back after he thought he had been punched.
Testifying in the compilation of evidence against John Farrugia, Adam Cini, 24, said that a very painful and burning sensation followed, he was taken to hospital, where he was told that his lung was punctured and that he might die during the operation. A priest had joined him in the operating theatre.
Mr Cini, who was stabbed as he was walking along with a group of friends after coming out of Monaliza Lounge Bar in Valletta at around 2am last month, said he had spent two days in ITU.
Taking the witness stand this morning, he said that as he and his friends were walking towards the Excelsior, where their cars were parked, when the accused looked at them and told them to keep walking.
A verbal argument broke out and they called each other names. Mr Cini said that at one point he insulted the accused’s father and the accused demanded an apology saying that unless this was given, he would cut him up.
A physical fight followed during which the two men punched each other and the accused waved the knife at him.
