Updated: Marsa accident blocks arterial road

A trailer truck hit and brought down a tree near the Marsa roundabout close to Shoemark this afternoon, bringing traffic along this busy artery to a standstill for some time. The incident took place at about 4 p.m. and motorists reported a traffic jam all the way to Fgura and Paola. Motorists were seen helping policemen to remove the branches and the road was then reopened. The accident was close to the site where a trailer toppled over and the road was closed while a crane was used to lift it - causing traffic chaos until the road was reopened.
