The government’s decision to temporarily close the Family Park in Marsascala because of a fault in the hydrolyser at the adjacent recycling plant raised a number of questions, PN spokesmen George Pullicino and Charlo Bonnici said.
The government said yesterday the park was being temporarily closed at the advice of experts who recommended it should be declared "out of bounds".
The PN spokesmen said the minister should confirm that the fault developed at the beginning of May. He should say why he waited until the third week of July to close the park if there was fear for the people’s health. Were visitors to the park in the past two months in any danger, they asked.
They also wanted to know if workers were at a greater danger and if they were to continue to be exposed to this risk until the fault was repaired. When was the fault to be repaired, they asked.
The spokesmen said they understood that maintenance to the plant would be required from time to time but they could not understand why a fault which developed at the beginning of May was being attributed to the previous government, especially since it was the present administration which had taken so long to address the...
