A man duped a woman into renting an apartment and was paid five years in advance, only for the woman to then find that the flat had no water and electricity, according to charges filed in court today.
The same man allegedly also sold a waterproofing company for €10,000 and only transferred a van worth €200 and some valves to the buyer.
The man, Charlot Gauci, 42 of Gzira, was accused of total fraud of €16,000.
He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail against a €500 deposit and a personal guarantee of €10,000.
