A quick-acting traffic policeman this morning forced open a car after it was locked by mistake with the keys – and an 18-month-old baby girl– inside.
The incident happened just after 10 a.m. in Floriana.
The policeman, Michael Farrugia, stopped at the scene when he noticed a group of people gathered around the car, a Hyundai.
One woman, who appeared agitated, explained that she had locked the keys inside. The baby was strapped in a car seat at the back and crying, probably because of the heat.
Some people had unsuccessfully tried to open the vehicle. A man produced a hammer and the policeman directed the woman to distract the child while he smashed a window, opening the car.
