Updated: 18 migrants found - two Maltese arrested

Two Maltese were arrested last night during the discovery of 18 migrants near Cirkewwa, informed sources said. It was not immediately clear if the migrants had arrived in Malta or were leaving. The police made four arrests in connection with suspicion of human trafficking - two Maltese and two foreigners. In a statement, the police said the migrants' boat was escorted to Cirkewwa at about 4 a.m. and the migrants were escorted to police headquarters. The group consisted of seven men, three woman and eight children. A magisterial inquiry is under way.
