Updated: Construction worker dies at Salina

A 69-year-old construction worker from Hamrun, Pawlu Borg, died this afternoon while working on the Salini saltpans restoration project. The man died at around 4.30pm when he was trapped between a dumper and a mechanical shovel. The police said the man was driving the dumper and his colleague the shovel. At one point, the colleague felt the dumper pushing into his shovel and looked back but could not see the other man. The second man got out of his machine and found his colleague, who must have fallen out of the dumper, trapped between the two machines.
