Elderly man injured in petard explosion

A man has been hospitalised after a small petard exploded in his hand in a lane off  Triq Wenzu Dalli, Hal Ghaxaq, this afternoon. The incident happened at about 12.15 p.m.  The injured man, 69, was taken to hospital in an ambulance  His injuries are serious but not life-threatening. Informed sources said the man was not making fireworks.
