Four arrested after car chase

Three men and a woman are being questioned by the police after being seen fleeing the scene as the police responded to a report of a car on fire. The incident happened at about 11pm on Monday. The police said on Tuesday that officers responded to a call that a Mitsubishi car was on fire in Triq Selmun in Mellieħa. When officers from the local police station and the Rapid Intervention Unit arrived, they spotted a Mercedes being driven away at high speed. The Mercedes was reported stolen a few days ago. The RIU officers chased and eventually stopped the Mercedes and arrested the people inside. They were three men aged between 20 and 29 and a 22-year-old woman.  A magisterial inquiry is under way.
