The courts are still awaiting the death certificate of former judge Ray Pace in order to extinguish the court case against him and lift the freeze on his assets.
Lawyers Stefano Filletti and Joe Mifsud appearing for Dr Pace lamented the fact that procedures dictated that for the case to be extinguished, the death certificate had to be presented. They said they were not blaming the magistrate but the bureaucratic procedures.
Dr Filletti said that they could not wait indefinitely for the death certificate to be issued for the freezing order on the judge's assets to be lifted.
Magistrate Neville Camilleri ordered that the acts of the proceedings are sent back to the Attorney General as is standard procedure and the case was appointed for June 24.
