Three fatal traffic accidents in first quarter

Three people died in traffic accidents in the first three months of this year. The National Statistics Office said that there were 3,401 reported traffic accidents reached 3,401, 8.5 per cent less than in the same quarter last year. In the period under review, 366 traffic casualties were reported, of which 222 involved drivers. The injuries suffered by 184 drivers were slight, 35 grievous and three fatal. During this period, nine passengers and 22 pedestrians suffered grievous injuries, while 75 passengers and 38 pedestrians were slightly injured. A total 74.9 per cent of traffic casualties were caused by passenger cars,followed by motorcycles (18.6 per cent), and goods-carrying vehicles (4.6 per cent). The highest traffic casualty rate occurred on Sundays, accounting for 20.8 per cent of the total. The highest accident rate was on Thursdays, totalling540 cases, and the lowest on Sundays, with 381 cases.
