Man attacked at PL Rabat club spent two months in hospital

A man who was attacked at the Rabat Labour Party club in February suffered a fractured skull and swelling to his brain, spent two months in hospital but does not remember anything that happened that evening. Ivan Attard said all he remembered was that after the Labour Mass meeting in February 17, he went to the Labour Party Club in Rabat with his uncle and his partner. He said they bought a bottle of whiskey and all of a sudden something happened and he ended up in hospital. He was testifying in the compilation of evidence against Kenneth Micallef who stands accused with seriously injuring him in a fight at the club. Mr Attard, who is from Marsa, said he had never see the accused and that the first time he was seeing him was in the courtroom. Magistrate Saviour Demicoli also heard several Mobile Squad police officers explain how they were called to a massive fight at the Rabat club. When they arrived they saw several people outside the club and at least three people covered in blood and one who lying on the ground semi-conscious. The police said they never saw anyone fighting outside the club and that the situation had calmed down by the time they got there. The case continues.
