A friend of murdered lawyer Margaret Mifsud spoke in court today of how the victim was unhappy in her marriage and felt trapped.
Geraldine Watson was giving evidence in the trial of Nizar Mustafa Al-gadi, Dr Mifsud's former husband, who is accused of murdering her in her car in April.
Mrs Watson said Dr Mifsud felt she could not let go of Al-gadi because of their children, who, she felt, needed their father.
She had told her that she always gave the children access to their father, despite concerns about his behaviour.
In e-mail correspondence, Dr Muscat used to tell her that her former husband used to threaten to take their children if she left him.
Dr Mifsud also told her of violence she suffered at Al-gadi's hands, but she kept silent for the sake of the children.
