President George Abela this morning appealed for the Constitutional reform not to be hindered.
He said during a courtesy call from the Speaker that anything that could hinder this process should be avoided because of the importance of the reform, which everyone agreed needed to be done.
Dr Abela said that in the upcoming President’s forum there would be four speakers - Judge Giovanni Bonello, lawyer Kevin Aquilina, Ombudsman Joseph Said Pullicino and former Speaker Michael Frendo who prepared 'a very interesting paper' about the need for reforms in Parliament.
The President would eventually also push for people to have their say in a referendum on Constitutional reform.
Whether this came to a Second Republic or not was not the point. What was necessary was that the necessary reform was carried out, he said.
