Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this morning visited St Aloysius' College which he attended as a boy, accompanied by his wife and members of Cabinet and Labour's parliamentary group who were also old boys. Dr Muscat described the occasion as a "home coming" and said the Jesuits taught him more about management and finance than any other course. He also spoke about discipline, recalling an incident when he was sent home and given an afterschool for going to College without his undervest. Instead of going home to Burmarrad as he was told, he went to his friend's house around the corner and returned within 10 minutes wearing an undervest. An incredulous Brother Salvu Mifsud asked how he had arrived so quickly and when Dr Muscat explained what he had done, he was excused of his afterschool thanks to his quick thinking. "These were the best years of my life," he said, recalling the school's motto to turn students into men and women for others. Dr Muscat said his Government was committed to Church, Government and independent schools. He said his Government would also further scholarships in a sustainable way to keep encouraging students to continue studying and venturing abroad.
