The House of Representatives today paid tribute to a former MP who was elected first on the Labour list, and then that of the Nationalist Party.
Marcel Mizzi, a Gozitan, passed away recently.
He was first elected in 1955 as a Labour Party candidate.
He later had disagreements with the party over its views on independence and switched to the Nationalist Party and was elected again in a casual election in 1963.
He was not re-elected in 1966.
Condolences were expressed by Foreign Minister George Vella and Opposition leader Lawrence Gonzi.
The House also expressed its condolences following the death of Carmelo Refalo, the father of Gozo Minister Anton Refalo.
