This year’s spring hunting season, between April 10 and 30, both days included, has been published in a legal notice.
The season, which has, a national hunting bag limit set at 11,000 turtle doves and 5,000 quail, is in line with recommendations that were made by the Ornis Committee.
The season will be terminated should the bag limit be reached before the end of the season.
The Malta Environment and Planning Authority said it will issue a special 2013 spring hunting licence to all eligible applicants.
This permits hunting for turtle doves and quail by holders of a valid February 2013 to January 2014 Carnet de Chasse. Eligible persons may apply for this licence between Saturday and April 2 at MaltaPost branches during office hours.
Applicants are required to present their identity card and a valid Carnet de Chasse booklet with their application.
Hunters will be required to report their catches through an SMS system and on their Carnet de Chasse before leaving the hunting zone and to abide by time restrictions and daily and season bag limits per licence.
